[pygtk] MDI-ish interface?

Hello Folks :)

I'm just learning pygtk as it appears somewhat more flexible than
wxpython (which I've used before with great success, let that be noted).

Now I need something like an MDI-style interface; neednt be toplevel
windows inside a toplevel window, but at least normal widgets in a
toplevel window that can be freely moved, arranged and (very
importantly) drawn between.

I'm basically going for a topic map style application (think of an
inbetween of the Literary Machine and cmaptools), but let me stress:
little graphics boxes with text are not good enough; I need boxes that
can hold all the plethora of widgets pygtk has to offer.

I've looked at the Layout widget ... but I'm not nearly versed enough in
pygtk yet , so I dont know if thats the way to go. And what are sockets
and plugs about?

so many questions ...
:)
hope you have some advice
wildemar
