[pygtk] nautilus bindings for Python?

Hi list!
I'm new here.
I subscribed following an advice from Johan Dalin.
I'm currently trying to set emblems in Nautilus on files and or folders
by the means of external scripts, _not nautilus scripts_.
My first try was to modify the XML files where the emblems are kept, in
~/.nautilus/metafiles.
This works approximately, but the new emblems appear only (sometimes)
when I restart nautilus.
Then, I found docs about the bonobo nature of nautilus, and the bonobo
bindings for Python.
I need a step by step tuto for, from a Python script :
- get a grip on the relevant file object in nautilus, given a path to
the actual file
- set / unset emblems for that file
hoping that, if the work is done by nautilus, the new emblems will
appear consistently,
and that I'll be able to get rid of my XML hack
TIA
