I haven't tried.  If you are familiar with IPython, I'd like to invite you to try out the PyGTK Shell, at least superficially through the provided tutorial, and report where I'm in danger of reinventing the wheel.

To use the two together, you might have to develop.  As far as I know, IPython does some of what PyGTK Shell does (and a lot more) in a very different way that is not specific to PyGTK.
