that's correct if you don't override system libraries

I think that if you don't know the difference between system path and
/usr/local you shouldn't attempt to install a different library
version.

Everything you attempt will simply break your system, if you install
in /usr/local, which is the default path of configure you will regret
it later....
believe me if you don't do that _only_ for testing an app that require
a newer library, try to find or build a package for your distro first.
