[pygtk] Changing the radio button look to a check mark

Let's say I have a menu item which contains a bunch of radio buttons
from a specific group. Is there a way to make the radio buttons look
more pronounced as if they were to stay in a main window by themselves?

If the above is not possible, is there a way to keep the radio buttons
in the menu item as it but change the dot to a check mark?
