[pygtk] Applet doesn't run as applet

I figured out that I also works if I run the applet from commandline 
without any arguments and then add it to the panel.

I also tried to follow davyd's instructions, but gdb complains about 
"/usr/bin/vdr-applet.py": not in executable format: File format not 
recognized"

I just have no idea what the problem could be :(
