[pygtk] pygtk 2.6 for redhat Rhel 4

glib is different from glibc, you need the 2.6.x version of the full
Glib/GTK+ stack which is not easily upgradeable on an old system.

The only options you really have are;
* compile it yourself in a separate prefix, garnome[1] makes this easier
* upgrade/switch distribution to one which has 2.6 or newer installed
