[pygtk] ./configure doesn't find libglade

I am trying to compile pygtk-2.10.4 in a sandbox. Having successfully
compled pygobject, pycairo, etc. ./configure finds all of these except
libglade:

checking for LIBGLADE... checking for GTKUNIXPRINT... yes

[snip]

The following modules will be built:

atk
pango
pangocairo
gtk with 2.10 API
gtk.unixprint

The following modules will NOT be built:

gtk.glade

libglade is there (I can use the Perl bindings with no problem). How
can I get ./configure to find it?
