You probably need to link the Python module against the library, using
-lname, where "name" is the name of the library without the starting
"lib" and ending ".so". If on Linux, don't forget to
have /usr/local/lib in /etc/ld.so.conf and tu run "ldconfig" after
installing the shared library.
Please note that this is not the most appropriate list for general
