You may need to detach the child widgets before destroying
the parent, if you want to re-use the children. Otherwise
they get recursively destroyed along with the parent.

This being Python, there's nothing to stop you from keeping
a reference to a widget that has been destroyed. But from
Gtk's perspective, a destroyed widget is no longer usable.
It is an ex-widget. :-)
