[pygtk] Possible to layer widgets ?

Greetings

I'd like to know if it's possible to layer widgets (so that one it "on top" of 
another" in PyGTK 2.10.

Basically, what I want to achieve is something similar to a "Fixed" container 
but with an image as background instead of solid color.

Any help would be much appreciated
