[pygtk] How can I suppress redraw of a gtk.ScrolledWindow and children until I'm done changing stuff?

OK, I tried freeze-thawing around the resize, around adj.value change 
and both. I tried freeze-thawing S.window, S.child.window, 
S.child.child.window, S.child.child.child.window and all of them. None 
of that had any effect. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?
