[pygtk] Updating image without closing window

Is there anyway we can simulate the key-press-event??
Or in other words, is there anyway we can call the gtk.main_quit() and then
"destroy" the window by just setting a flag once the image gets displayed,
without actually waiting for a key to be pressed??
