[pygtk] timer in pygtk

hello all,

I am creating a time in pygtk in which I display some map and as long 
as the user clicks on zoom buttons or pan buttons then the map stays, 
otherwise, inactivity for about 5 seconds should trigger another image 
warning that the map is disabled due to inactivity and when user clicks 
on this new image(which can be even a simple label), then the map is 
restored back. So far I dont see m to be getting anywhere. I would 
really appreciate any help, including ideas of how to go about it.
