[pygtk] transparent layout

Hey to all,

I would like to ask if there is a way to make a layout transparent, so as
only the widgets that contains
to be visible. I would like to do that because I want to have an image in
the background that represents a
grid, and I want to put all of my widgets to distinct squares in the grid.

My layout (gtk.layout) is attached to a table (gtk.table). I can change the
background image of the table,
but I can't do the same with the layout where my widgets lie.

Is there a way to make the layout container transparent or to change its
background image.
